More than 50 killed in a Daesh organized explosion in Pakistan. The dead were Muslims, including women and children, visiting a Muslim shrine when the explosion occurred. Daesh acknowledged it was their doing. This was on November 12th.
In November 2016 alone, more than 60 terrorist attacks have been carried out by extremists around the world. On Nov. 2 Islamic State Militants murdered 52 souls in Mosul. The same day an extreme group known as Seleka murdered 25 in Bambari, Central African Republic. On the 4th 11 died in a roadside bombing in Faryab province, Afghanistan. On the same day in a separate Car Bombing 12 lost their lives. The Taliban get the credit for both. Also on the 4th, 11 more died in a car bombing in Diyarbakir, a Kurdish city in Turkey. Still on the 4th, this time in Hawija, Iraq 12 fleeing civilians died in a bombing conducted by the Islamic State. On November 6th, Islamic State suicide bombers using explosive laden ambulances killed 25 persons in Tikrit and Samarra Iraq. On November 8 30 gold miners were executed by Boko Haram in Maru, northern Nigeria. Also on the 8th the Islamic State executed at least 300 individuals in Mosul for refusing to fight for Daesh. On November 10th Daesh electrocuted 30 civilian souls in Mosul, plus nine others by shootings. The next day on the 11th, 113 were executed, some for treason, some for deserting the battlefield, and some for leaking information. This was effected by Daesh, who also shot one man for using a mobile phone and six for having hidden SIM cards. On November 12th, in Mosul, Daesh executed 60 civilians
The list presented above are just those Daeshs’ and others’ atrocities involving large loss of life. None of these are believed to have involved Americans or other westerners.
As far as I know none of these events were reported by Western news agencies to western audiences or at least only in a minimal fashion..Here in America such news was obscured by presidential campaign and election coverage. Is it enough to say these events and the horror they produced should have been clearly understood as the work of a relatively small segment of the Muslim world, a small number dedicated to creating havoc just for the sake of doing it?
Daesh is most certainly the present enemy along side of agencies such as the Taliban, Al Qaeda, Boko Haram and the like. President-elect Trump has declared he will destroy Daesh. Can he do it? I certainly don’t know, nor will I comment on his ability to do so. I await his plan and execution. By the way, you may recall that Daesh promised terrorist actions here around the country before or during the election. That didn’t happen. But, I am not going to hold my breath wondering if that promise will be carried out soon. One hopes it will not, but…
I continue to work on my second novel, A Prairie Vendetta, which looks at the concept of home grown terrorists operating not from religious reasons but out of misguided political aims. Frankly, I struggle with the idea of small groups of dissident individuals willing to kill their own people to reach goals. Still I recognize that recent events here in the USA does seem to raise that spectre. May god protect and forgive us.
